This project is funded by donations. Singing in villages, towns, pubs, cafes, markets, and in good peoples’ homes, gives us the means to buy a little food, some oats and bread and cheese. It is only our slow-growing skills, and constant lightweight movement, that means we are unable to be sustained entirely by wild food. Eventually, we hope to get to that point of sufficience, but for now, we take the help we are given.
The surprising and overwhelming generosity of the people we meet, means we rarely go hungry for long. A very great thank-you to everyone whose kindness allows us to keep going.
Our chief need is with other costs. This website, which hopes to promote the communities and projects we find, to educate people about the amazing landscape of these islands, is a drain on our near empty pockets. It is largely maintained by voluntary help, by the kindness of friends, but it still needs financial aid.
Equipment is also a heavy cost. Living outside all the time means we need certain bits of kit that replace a roof, oven, bed and heating – things like jackets and ponchos. We get through boots like no-one’s business, and our woolen clothes are punished by squeezing through blackthorn and hawthorn hedges. We fix and mend, but eventually things do wear out. This is another cost that needs to be met.
Please, if you want to help us achieve material balances, and keep walking and singing around Britain, we most gratefully accept all donations.
